Enamored by ElleJW

I am absolutely in love with the work of ElleJW of Almost an Angel 66!  I've been a long time admirer, and I posted about her work as the very first Featured Friday on the blog.  The past few days, I have been "ooohing" and "aaaahing" over two prints that I newly noticed (not sure if they are new, or just new to me!).  It sure would be nice if Santa brought me the pair for Christmas this year!!

This first print is titled "A Little Whisper" - I love the bunny ears (as we call our pup Ana's ears since they stick straight up in the air when she's listening for/to something).  I love the expression on her face- intent, listening...mouth slightly agape like there is a treat just out of view!

The second print is titled "Eventually" and features two black greyhounds looking just as intently off the page as the pup above!  I love this one because it is such a perfect mirror of my two, Ana and Blue!

Don't you think these 5x7" prints would be the perfect compliment to the ElleJW print we currently own (it's 14x10")?  Here's a tiny picture of it (I don't think she's selling prints of it anymore because I can't find it listed anywhere online!).

Introducing "Dressed to the (K)Nines" Flower Clips for Dog Collars or Hair

I just finished listing some new items at Greyhound Threads on Etsy, and I'm so very happy to announce the addition of a brand new line called "Dressed to the (K)Nines"!  The line launched today in the new Accessories section of the shop with the listing of three flower clips that can be worn either clipped to a dog's collar, or worn in your own hair!  I was inspired to create a multi-functional accessory due to a strand of kid's pearls I bought for my own posh-pup, Ana, a couple of years ago.  She loves to wear her pearls when we go out, but every now and then I will borrow them to wear as a choker.  I just love the versatility and was inspired to create other accessories that could be used by both human and hound!

The first listing is for a flower clip in Ivory Tulle with Black Polka-Dots.

The second listing is for a flower clip in layered

And the third listing is for a flower clip in

Cyber Monday - Kylie Parry Studios

My Cyber Monday shopping has been focused around Etsy for the most part.  I found this morning, as I perused the online offerings, that I must have done all my "big-box" retailer shopping on Black Friday.  I was ready for something more personal- something handmade!  Etsy never fails to deliver, and today it was made only sweeter with some stores offering discounts on their already reasonable prices for quality goods.

There is one shop in particular that I found myself repeatedly drawn to today- Kylie Parry Studios.  I initially found this wonderful treasure of a shop because of the beautiful, modern dog bone ornaments that can be customized with the name of your dog.  Today only, Kylie is offering 20% off regular prices (the prices in her shop reflect the discount already!), so these sweet bones are only $11.20 each!

While I adore these dog bone ornaments, and would adore one of each for Ana and Blue, I must admit that I fell just as much in love with these owl ornaments below.  Immediately, I thought to myself that these would be wonderful as necklaces & started trying to decide which would pair with more outfits!  These owls are only $12.80 after the 20% Cyber Monday discount!

At the same time, I saw this wonderful Bee's Knees ceramic necklace...it's just amazing!  I love the honeycomb detail on the goldenrod colored pendant, and the accent of the bronzed bee!  This necklace is only $14.40 after the 20% discount, and it comes with the sweet little bee accent and the chain!

I knew that at least one of these items had to be mine, though it is unfortunate that all could not be!  After rigorous discussion with one of my friends over which owl ornament/pendant would be best, I finally decided on the bee necklace and the rust colored owl!  I am going to make the owl into a pendant and use the chain from the bee necklace so all I have to buy is the jump ring for the owl- I think they both are going to be amazing!!!

October is Adopt a Dog Month & a Treasury Feature - Ode to Nimue

October is the American Humane Association's Adopt-A-Dog Month!
Greyhound Threads always encourages families and individuals looking to expand their family to adopt rescue animals instead of buying from a breeder or pet stores.  In addition to shelters and humane societies, please keep in mind that if you have a specific breed in mind, most often you can find rescue groups in your local area that specialize in your desired breed.  If you are interested in adopting a retired racer, there are many, many wonderful groups to help- and if you are in the Greater Richmond, VA area, please keep James River Greyhounds in mind!
In celebration of Adopt-A-Dog month,a fellow-Etsy seller created a wonderful tribute to her "fur daughter", Nimue the White, who passed away this past Spring.  Nimue was abandoned & left at the vets for several hours after her birth, and Brizel4TheAnimals was able to adopt her when she was 3 months old.  They spent seven wonderful years together- here is Brizel4TheAnimals' Ode to Nimue in which Greyhound Threads' Boutique Greyhound Silhouette in Mod 50's style with White Greyhound is featured:

Please do make sure you check out Brizel4TheAnimals' Etsy shop- the proceeds from her work benefit three areas of her life that are very important to her, including medical care for two senior rescue dogs!  Thanks Brizel4TheAnimals for including us in your wonderful Treasury & for reminding us that October is Adopt-A-Dog (or any animal!) month!
